Seochon Dress | Top

The Seochon Dress | Top is inspired by elements of the traditional Korean garment, hanbok, particularly its distinctive collar, the long overcoat (durumagi), and the sleeveless vest (jeonbok). The stitch pattern is inspired by everyday fashion in Seoul, where lace-textured knits are seen everywhere.

The Seochon Dress | Top is worked from the top down in an airy lace stitch pattern. Tucks are worked at the shoulders and waist. The dress | top has open sides, a V-neck finished with a double-knitted band, and either double-knitted armbands or sleeves.

Construction

Seochon Dress | Top is worked from the top down. The back is first worked flat. Stitches are then picked up for shoulders and front panels, which are also worked flat. The front panels are shaped with German Short Rows, while increases are worked for the V-neck before the front panels are joined.

The front and back are joined under the arms and worked in the round to approx. waist length. A tuck is then worked, after which the work is divided into front and back and worked flat until the desired length is reached. Stitches are then picked up around the neck, and a double-knitted neckband is worked. Finally, either sleeves or double-knitted armbands are worked.

The pattern includes written instructions only (no charts are included).
